Emergency Technologies ‘Vehicle Extraction Course’ was established 13 years ago for training Student Ambulance Officers of the Victorian Ambulance Service. Conducted over one day, this practically based course has been designed to give course participants the latest information and techniques in the removal of patients from motor vehicles. Comprising of 13 vehicles, the training centre will allow in excess of 20 varying scenarios to train participants in the common and not so common situations found at the scene of a vehicle accident.
In
preparation for learning the new extraction techniques, students briefly
review the following topics & equipment: Following the introductory subjects, participants are taught a range patient extraction techniques under a range of conditions including:

Vehicle On Side
Vehicle On Roof WHAT TO BRING Participants should bring the following items:
- Comfortable work clothes (overalls)
All training
aids, manuals and writing materials are provided. CATERING Catering is provided with a barbeque lunch. Coffee and tea facilities are unlimited throughout the course.
To give the
participants the best hands-on experience, and to develop a
team approach, class sizes are limited to a maximum of 14 students.
LOCATION OF TRAINING CENTRE
Training is conducted a purpose built training complex located at
Colac,150 km west of Melbourne at VicRoads Map 520 B7 (Edition 6). PARKING Parking is available on-site.
Lecturing is conducted by Anthony Hann who is a full-time Mobile Intensive Care Officer with the Victorian Ambulance Service, with 22 years of service. For the last 20 years, Anthony has been involved in the research and development of new spinal standards and training programs, now adopted by the Victorian Ambulance Service. He has lectured for over 10 years at Monash University teaching Spinal Management & Vehicle Extraction Techniques to Victoria’s new Student Ambulance Officers.
Cost of the 1 day
course starts at $1080 (+ GST), and allows the organisation to place up to 14
